Course Duration

4 hours in person  |  Bucksport campus


Course Description

This course covers essential shipboard management responsibilities, including:

  • Emergencies and safe working practices

  • Fatigue management

  • Health and hygiene

  • Drugs and alcohol awareness

  • Marine environmental issues

  • Communication and teamwork

A written exam will be conducted to assess the theory and understanding of course material.

USCG Approval

Applicants who successfully complete this course will satisfy the Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities (PSSR) training competency requirements of:

  • STCW Code Section A-VI/1 and Table A-VI/1 (as amended in 2010)

  • 46 CFR 11.302(a)(4) and 12.602(a)(4)
