Family & Friends | Be a part of the celebration!

While a commencement ceremony is a celebration for graduating students, it is also an event to be shared with family and friends. This year’s virtual commencement ceremony offers unique opportunities for you–family and friends–to become integral parts of the celebration on June 6^th.

We have prepared the following suggestions and resources to help you plan and kick off the festivities.

Host a watch party! Gather family to watch this year’s one-of-a-kind event and watch as we honor your graduate by live-streaming the event into your living room from Facebook or YouTube.
Request that everyone in attendance dress for the occasion.
Prepare food to enjoy together as you celebrate.
Have your graduate wear all their graduation attire – their cap and gown, honor cords, honor’s medallion, athlete medallions, or uniform.
When the dean announces your student’s name, have your graduate stand so you can give them a raucous round of applause!
Take pictures – lots of pictures – and use the hashtag #MMAGrad when you share your commencement photos on social media.
Print posters and lawn signs (downloads below) to let your neighbors know what your graduate has accomplished!

We’ve prepared these art pieces for printing and display by family, friends, and members of the Maine Maritime Academy Class of 2020. The files are made available for general use, in celebration of MMA’s graduates and in conjunction with the Class of 2020 Virtual Commencement Ceremony on June 6, 2020. Each item has a white portion where the graduate’s name can be written in.
