Thomas C. Dever ’77

DANVERS AND PEABODY: Thomas C Dever, 61, of Danvers and formerly of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Saturday evening at the Beverly Hospital. He was the husband of Becka (Anastos) Dever.

Born in Winthrop, he was the son of the late Clifford and Barbara (Chaffee) Dever. He was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School, Class of 1973. He continued his education at Maine Maritime Academy and received his degree in 1977. He later received his MBA from Northeastern University in 1991.

While in high school, Thomas played varsity football and baseball, and played hockey as well. He continued his athletic endeavors at Maine Maritime, and was captain and quarterback of the football team. He was later recognized by Maine Maritime Academy for his contributions and success to the school and the community he lived in and his name placed on the distinguished, Wall of Honor, that is given every four years.

Besides his loving wife Becka, he is survived by his three children, Kiley and her husband, Thomas Galvin of Newburyport, Hillary Dever of Boston, and TJ Dever of Danvers; his brothers, James and his wife, Barbara Dever of Plaistow, N.H., and Jack and his wife, Lisa Dever of Sugarland, Texas; his sister-in-law, Dian Pantapas of Danvers; and his brother-in-law, Frank and his wife, Rosemary Anastos of Peabody.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody. His funeral will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m., at St, Adelaide’s Church, 708 Lowell Street, Peabody. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
