Ronald B. Tucker ’66

Ronald Bradley Tucker, of Clinton, Conn. and formerly of Branford, passed away on January 29, 2021. He was born on December 10, 1944, in New Haven, the son of Albert Ronald Tucker and Elizabeth Emma (Bradley) Tucker.

Ron was a 1966 graduate of Maine Maritime Academy, with a Bachelor of Science in Nautical Sciences. After graduation, he spent several years employed by American Export Isbrandtsen Lines in various capacities as a Mate and Officer.

In later years, Ron was employed as a manager/supervisor at the Stop & Shop warehouse in North Haven, and later became a Realtor with William Raveis. Ron was a modern day homesteader who enjoyed keeping a large vegetable garden, raising chickens and sheep, and heating his home with wood or coal. His love of the ocean never waned and he could be found boating and bird watching at Hammonasset State Park. Ron made sure his children each had their boating license at a young age so they could share his love of the water. Ron loved his family and was a pillar of strength for them. He was kind hearted and was always there when you needed him. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who have precious memories of him playing board games and croquet in the backyard.

In addition to his wife of nearly 55 years, Karen (Robison) Tucker, Ron is survived by his 4 children and their spouses: Daryl Ann Ellison and her husband Frank of Guilford; Jeremy Wayne Tucker and Alexandra Quarti of Clinton; Matthew Lucas Tucker and his wife Kerry of Old Saybrook; Samuel Robison Tucker and his wife Elizabeth of Chester. He also leaves behind 7 beloved grandchildren: Erin, Rachel (Ellison), Olivia, Katherine (Ellison), Molly, Susannah, and Gavin. He is also survived by two brothers and their wives: Jonathan and Elaine Tucker of Branford, and Stephen Tucker and Patty Tucker of Ivoryton.
