Robert E. Vaughn ’68

Robert Earl Vaughn, “Buck”, age 75, a resident of Auburndale, Florida passed away Thursday March 18, 2021, peacefully and surrounded by family. Buck was born December 29, 1945 in Bangor, Maine to Robert Allen and Grace (Sabine) Vaughn. He was an Auburndale resident since 2014 coming from Reading, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Maine Maritime Academy in 1968 with a Bachelor’s degree in Marine, Mechanical, & Nuclear Engineering. He served in the United States Air Force while in high school, then upon his acceptance to Maine Maritime Academy, he augmented into the United States Navy and graduated as a Lieutenant. He served in Vietnam with the Merchant Marines from 1968-1971. Buck retired as the Director of Worldwide Nuclear Power Operations for Worley-Parsons Corporation in Reading, Pennsylvania. He enjoyed sailing with his family on the Chesapeake Bay, hunting, fishing, working on trucks, wood-working, home improvements, family vacations in Maine for 35 years, cooking, telling stories, teaching his kids everything he knew, coaching sports for his kids, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother – Eugene Franklin Lawrence. Buck is survived by his loving & devoted wife of 52 years – Mary E. Vaughn; 2 sons – Robert Allen (Jenna) Vaughn of Bluffton, S.C. and Timothy Earl (Kimberly) Vaughn of Macon, GA.; daughter – Jennifer G. Fromm of Denver, PA.; brother – Jeffrey Paul (Pam) Vaughn of Center Harbor, N.H.; 2 sisters – Trudy (Gilbert) Hobson of Glenburn, ME. And Sharon Grant of Auburndale, FL.; son-in-law – Eric R. Fromm of Denver, PA.; 4 grandsons – Austin R. Fromm of New Holland, PA., Benjamin P. Fromm of Denver, PA., William S. Vaughn of Bluffton, S.C. and Chase Hester of Macon, GA.; 4 granddaughters – Olivia G. Vaughn and Nora L. Vaughn both of Bluffton, S.C., Harley Hay and Greenly Aghajanian both of Macon, GA. A private memorial will be held this summer surrounded by family and close friends.
