Michael J. Morrissey ’79

Michael Jude Morrissey, beloved husband of Karelle (Falloni), passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at his home in Beverly.
Born in Brockton, Mike was the son of the late Daniel Morrissey and Lorraine Corrado. He was a graduate of Beverly High School and the Maine Maritime Academy. Mike spent his career working as a merchant marine. He looked every part a seafarer and sailed the world working as an engineer. Mike was a proud member of the Marine Engineers’ Beneficial Association (MEBA) union. He strived to mentor and recruit young mariners and in his retirement continued his connections with MEBA.
Mike was an avid skier and was happiest skiing Bear Peak with Ingi. Mike loved fishing and in retirement scheduled off-the-grid fishing trips with some of his former shipmates. He loved music and live concerts, occasional road-trips and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother Danny, sister-in-law Sandra, niece Molly Morrissey and stepson, Joseph Edelstein. He was a favorite uncle to Paul Acciavatti, Patrick and Benjamin Condon, Jack and Sam Falloni and Joseph Ingemi. Mike also leaves behind a loving family and many lifelong friends, in particular Kevin Duffy, Steve Comeau, Dave Ryan and Joe Falloni.
