John M. Moscone, Sr. ’72

Millinocket and Rochester, New Hampshire – John Michael Moscone Sr., passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2016. He was born January 19th, 1950 and raised in Millinocket, ME, the son of Alfonso and Eileen Moscone.

John was a 1971 graduate of Maine Maritime Academy. John made his living as a talented salesman and entrepreneur, holding various patents for inventions he created. He also possessed the gift of woodworking, specializing in children’s toys and furniture under the name Wicked Decent Woodworking and was also known to be an accomplished writer and cartoonist in his spare time. John was adventurous, entertaining and lovable. He was always very thoughtful, putting the needs of others in front of his own. He loved to laugh, play pool, ride his motorcycle and was frequently the life of the party, usually regaling the crowd with one of his many stories.

Most of all John cherished his two sons, John Michael Moscone Jr. and Adam Scott Moscone and the time he was able to spend with his three grandchildren, John Michael Moscone III, Phillip Cooper Moscone and Aleksandra (Sasha) Jade Moscone. He was a truly devoted and loving father and grandfather with a giant heart who routinely made 3 hour one way trips to be a part of his grandchildren’s lives, sometimes turning back the same day to make his journey home to Rochester, NH. He was fondly referred to as Sho-Sho. John will be missed dearly by his friends and family.

John is predeceased by his parents Alfonso and Eileen Moscone and his infant daughter Eita Eileen Moscone. He leaves behind four brothers and their spouses, Kenneth and Kathleen Moscone, Timothy Moscone, Thomas Moscone and Peter and Iris Moscone as well as his two sons and their spouses John Michael and Amanda Moscone and Adam and Marina Moscone.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 10-11 AM Saturday, June 18 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, Maine, where funeral services will be held at 11 AM. Private interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery at a later date.
