James E. Currie ’43-2

PLYMOUTH — James E. Currie Jr., 84, of Maple Street, died Sept. 27, 2008, at Speare Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 15, 1924, in Bartlett, to James E. Sr. and Alice (Clemons) Currie.

He was raised in Portland, Maine, and graduated from Deering High School. He was a 1943 graduate of the Maine Maritime Academy.

He was a World War II veteran and served as a Merchant Marine and in the U.S. Naval Reserve.

He worked as a loan officer with Monroe Finance, and Seaboard Finance in Plymouth and Manchester. He joined the Pemigewassett National Bank in 1966 and retired as vice president and director.

He was a member of numerous fraternal, charitable and civic organizations, and he enjoyed a lifetime of fishing, hunting, golf and travel.

Family members include his wife, Margaret K. (Boyd) Currie of Plymouth; two daughters, Kathleen Currie of Orlando, Fla., and Janette Sheehy of Rochester; two sons, James Currie of Rochester, and John Currie of Hooksett; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
