Henry S. Woods ’66

Henry “Sky” Woods III passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, at the age of 82, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, friendship, and cherished memories. Born on September 1, 1944, in Brunswick, Maine, Henry was known to family and friends as “Sky.” When he was 10 years old, his family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, where he later graduated from West High School. He went on to graduate from Maine Maritime Academy before proudly serving his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and later in the United States Naval Reserve.

Sky took great pride in both his military service and his professional career. Following his naval service, he worked as a maritime consultant, accident investigator, and expert witness. In retirement, he and his wife Kathryn enjoyed spending their summers in East Boothbay, Maine, and Sandia Park, New Mexico.

A devoted Christian and family man, Sky believed deeply in the importance of faith, stewardship, and family. He treasured every opportunity to spend time with those he loved and found great joy in watching his family grow through the generations.

He is survived by his sons, Brad Woods (Julie) and Brian Woods (Megan); grandchildren Connor Woods (Emily), Gregory Woods, Meredith Dunn (Chandler) and Grace Woods, great-grandsons Harrison Dunn, Cooper Woods, and Liam Dunn; nephews Gregg Cypert (Kellie) and Kevin Cypert (Lilia); niece Jennifer Lauzon (Chris); and many other beloved relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Woods.

Those who knew Sky will remember his commitment to being a faithful steward of God’s blessings, his gift for storytelling, and his practical, thrifty nature. Whether sharing wisdom from his experiences, recounting a memorable tale, or offering a bit of humor, he had a way of leaving a lasting impression on those around him.

The family has chosen a private burial service. Sky will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.

Though he will be deeply missed, Sky’s legacy of faith, service, and love will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
