Gerald “Guy” H. Saucier ’53

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — LCDR (RET) USN, Gerald H. Saucier, 81, died at his home surrounded by family on Friday, Aug. 17, 2012. He was born in New Canada Plantation to Honorie and Delia Saucier. Known as ‘Guy’ by his Maine family and friends, he grew up in Biddeford, and attended Maine Maritime Academy. He served his country in the [ http://www.legacy.com/memorial-sites/navy/?personid=159425341&affiliateID=1444 ]U.S. Navy for 21 years, including distinguished service in Vietnam. Gerald was a devoted husband and proud father who enjoyed bowling and golfing.

He was a member of The Retired Officers Association; Military Officer’s Association of America (M.O.A.A.); and the Maine Maritime Alumni Association.

Gerald was predeceased by his parents; and eight siblings. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret McEnery Saucier; five daughters, Karen Saucier Richardson and husband David Ward Richardson, Patricia Saucier Flanigan and husband John Flanigan, Anne Saucier PaQuette and companion Joe Lagana, Joan Saucier Tyson and fiancé Tom Ellmer, and Donna Saucier, son, Guy Saucier; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and close family in Maine.

Entombment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery.
