Charles F. Ramsey, Jr. ’65

Charles Franklin Ramsey Jr., 62, of Sand Beach Road, died at his home March 31, 2006.

Born in Portland, he was a son of Charles F. Ramsey Sr. and Elizabeth S. Burns Ramsey. Mr. Ramsey was a 1961 graduate of South Portland High School and a 1965 graduate of Maine Maritime Academy in Castine. He had also served in the Naval Reserve.

Until 1969, Mr. Ramsey worked for American Export Lines. Since that time he has worked as a Chief Engineer for Moran Towing and Transportation of NY.

He was a member of Hancock Lodge of Masons in Castine and was also affiliated with Buxton Lodge of Masons; a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and as a young man was very active in deMolay. He was inspired by living at Sebago Lake.

Surviving him are a son, Charles F. Ramsey III of Gorham; a daughter, Kimberly Iverson of Athens, Tenn.; a brother, John Ramsey of California; a sister, Deborah Niles of Georgia; five grandchildren, Charles F. Ramsey IV, Alix M. Ramsey, Courtney Iverson, Brittney Ringuette and Adam Ringuette.
