Capt. Timothy D. Lindberg ’80

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, WA – Timothy Drew Lindberg, 44, of Bainbridge Island died May 7, 2002 at the age of 44.  He was born on April 5, 1958 in Staten Island, NY, to Howard and Patricia (Kerr) Lindberg.  He graduated in 1976 from Mendham High School and in 1980 from Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine.  

From 1980 to 1990, he worked for Military Sealift Command in Bayonne. From 1990 until the time of his death, he captained ferries for the Washington State Ferry System in Seattle.  During his career, Mr. Lindgerg obtained his master’s license, for unlimited tonnage, on any ocean or sea.

His hobbies included beekeeping and he was a member of the West Sound Beekeeping Association.  He also enjoyed making stained-glass windows.  He is survived by his wife of five years, Lane Phillips of Bainbridge Island; a son, Teddy, 15 of Far Hills; his parents of Wayne, Maine; three brothers, Mark of Phillipsburg, Eric and his wife Stacy of Kearneysville, West Virginia, and Jonathan and his wife, Christie of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Col. Kerrie Lindberg and her husband Gayle Anders of Waldorf, Maryland; five nephews, Gayle, Mycal, Eryk and Bryan Anders of Waldorf, and Hoff Lindberg of Kearneysville; and a niece, Emma Lindberg of Kearneysville.
