Capt. David E. Harrison ’62

Capt. David E. Harrison Sr. passed peacefully on September 7, 2026. He was born May 1, 1941, to Alice and Edwin Harrison of Stockton Springs, ME.

Dave was a graduate of Stockton Springs schools and Maine Maritime Academy. As a merchant mariner he circumnavigated the world six times. Dave was employed at the Bucksport papermill until he retired, as the superintendent of the power plant. Dave had many enjoyments in his life, but his greatest joy was being on the water and sailing on the ‘Aurora.’ He became and earned the title of Captain Dave! Dave also loved his snow birding trips to Florida with his beloved shih tzu, Mr. Benny, by his side.

Dave is survived by his wife of 41 years, Karen; their children, Pete and Dan Farrington, Lisa Holman, David E. Harrison Jr., and Teri and Natalie Harrison; sisters, Susan Parent and Trudy Bishop; and brother, Paul Harrison. He is lovingly remembered by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Alice Harrison; infant daughter, Emily; and granddaughter, Sabrina.

David was a longtime member of the Elm Street Congregational Church in Bucksport.
