Arthur S. Young ’73
Arthur S. Young, 69 of Corea, Maine passed away suddenly Tuesday afternoon, May 4th 2021. Young was born in Sullivan, Maine on September 15th, 1951 to Vincent A. and Noelle Bernadette (Dubois) Young. He attended local schools, graduating from Sumner Memorial High School in 1969. He went on to graduate from Maine Maritime Academy with a Bachelor’s in Engineering in 1973. Eight weeks later, Young married the love of his life, Rose Mary Dyer, with whom he spent the next 48 years.
Shortly after their marriage, he took a job with International Paper and worked for the next 19 years between Ticonderoga, New York and Jay, Maine. He finally moved home to Corea in 1993, trading in his “white hat” for a lobster boat. Most recently he was making and delivering heads for Friendship Trap. He was an active member of United Baptist and Eden Baptist Churches with a giving spirit who would go out of his way to help anyone in need before himself.
He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Mark and Emanuel “Manny” Young. Young is survived by his wife Rose, Brother in-law Don and his wife Judy Dyer of Lamoine, Sister in-laws IdaMay Sargent-Young and Maria Young, daughters Tina Gibbs and her husband Ryan of Warren, Mindy Wark of Ellsworth, Grandchildren Brianna Polley, Kevin “Kev” Wark, Genevieve, Maddy and Jacob Gibbs and Great-Grandchildren Layla, Arya and Connor several nieces and a nephew and a large extended family in Belgium as well as his many friends both near and far.
