Harold R. Tiensivu ’69

PORTLAND – Harold “Skip” R. Tiensivu, 78, of Portland, passed away on Nov. 23, 2025, at the Barron Center. He was born in Portland on Jan. 26, 1947, the son of the late Wilho and Margaret (Page) Tiensivu.

Harold grew up in South Portland and graduated from South Portland High School. He went on to attend the Maine Maritime Academy, where he earned his bachelor’s degree on a full basketball scholarship.

Skip began his career as an engineer with the Merchant Marines before continuing his service-oriented work with the Portland Pipeline.

In his free time, Harold enjoyed playing golf and was an avid sports fan. He especially loved watching baseball—cheering on the Red Sox—as well as the New England Patriots, often enjoying games surrounded by his family.

He was predeceased by his nephew, Benjamin Bean.

Harold is survived by his son, Robert Tiensivu and his partner Jill Hunter of Orrington, and her son Hunter Smith and her daughter, Logan Smith; his sister, Sonia Bean and her husband John of South Portland; his grandchildren, Brennon and Braydon Tiensivu; and his niece, Alyson Bean.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 3, from 2:30-3 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 3 p.m., at the new Conroy-Tully Walker Cremation, Funeral & Gathering Center, 300 Allen Ave., Portland.
