Capt. Kevin C. Murray ’77
Kevin C. Murray ’77, former captain of the Blue Ridge oil tanker and recently a Columbia River Bar pilot, died January 9, 2006 when he fell as he transferred from one vessel to another in rough seas, Columbia River, Oregon. His body was found about 60 miles from where he disappeared.
He began his career towing vessels, including semi-submersible oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. He had his Master’s license when the Columbia River Bar Pilot’s Association invited him to join in 2004. He belonged to the Boston Marine Society and the Council of American Master Mariners.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Lori; his mother, Phyllis; and two brothers.
