Daniel F. Sevigny ’47

Daniel Francis Sevigny passed away on Monday, September 6th in St. Petersburg, Florida, after a brief illness.

Frank, as he was known by his family and friends, and Pepere to all of his grandchildren, was 94 years wise and living in St. Petersburg, FL for the last 5 years. He was previously of Naples, FL, Lynn, MA, and Biddeford, ME.

He was a resident of Grand Villa of St. Petersburg, where he was fondly known for his obsession with trying to get snacks from his neighbors, in particular his great love of peanut butter cups and chocolate ice cream. He was known for his non-stop walking, how sweet and helpful he was, and his mad pool skills.

Frank was born in Biddeford, ME in 1927 to Catherine Buckley and Albert Sevigny. He was predeceased by his first wife, Yvette (Hevey) Sevigny and two of his children – daughter, Lynne O’Connell and son, Guy Sevigny; second wife, Peg Twomey; brother Norman Sevigny and sister Doris King.

Frank was a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the Navy. He was a graduate of Maine Maritime Academy and served in the Merchant Marines. He was also a member of the Biddeford-Saco Elks Lodge.

After working on ships for many years and being away overseas, he obtained a job at the Traveler’s Insurance Company where he started working inspecting boilers and worked his way up to a Senior Safety Engineer. This job gave him his classic green overalls, which were playfully referred to as the “green machine” and worn to do all manner of household chores. Many Sunday dinners at home were spent regaling the family at the dinner table with stories of all the many ports that Frank had sailed into.

Frank was a family man who spent weekends mowing the lawn, teaching his kids not only manners and responsibility but also how to fish in the summer and ski in the winter, going to the beach, canoeing, and a life long love of camping at Sebago Lake. He was the master of organization and packing!

He loved his family and would have given you the “shirt off his back”. He taught his children how to be compassionate, always stop to help someone and make sure they are ok, how to tease and be teased with affection, and have fun. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him and his devilish sense of humor.

Frank is survived by his brother, John Sevigny; son, Marc Sevigny and wife Joan Bragar; daughter, Patty Morash and husband Mike Morash; daughter-in-law, Dawn Sevigny-Watson and husband Bill Watson; family friend, Deb Deleo; grandchildren, Aaron Sevigny and wife Tennille Sevigny, Morgan Sevigny, Ellen Sevigny, Daniel Sevigny, Eli Sevigny, Catie Sevigny, Amanda Sevigny, Meghan (Morash) Collier and husband Drew Collier, Nikki (Morash) Rossi and husband Kevin Rossi, and several nieces and nephews.
