James Merrill Parker Canfield ’82
Beloved father, husband, and son, 52
James Canfield of Scotch Plains, NJ, passed away at his home with his family by his side on Wednesday June 20, 2012.
Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. followed by a 5 p.m. Service of Rememberance at the Rossi Funeral Home, 1937 Westfield Ave. in Scotch Plains, NJ.
Jim was born in Hartford, CT to Kenneth and Elma Canfield and graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1978. He went on to earn a B.S. degree in Marine Engineering at Maine Maritime Academy in 1982. He was employed in power plant operations throughout CT, NY and NJ for many years, most recently at AES Red Oak, in Sayreville, NJ.
Jim married Lynn (Montagna) of Scotch Plains, NJ in 1986 and began to raise a family in Colchester, CT. Together they moved the family to Scotch Plains in 1994 and have lived there ever since. He was an avid fisherman, racquetball player, and a devoted Boston Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed sailing and playing craps.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lynn, daughter Sarah, sons Matthew and Bryan, his parents Elma and Ken, sister Barbara Jean Frasca and her husband Dr. John Frasca.Son-in-Law of Thomas and Bernice Montagna. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Scotch Plains Rescue Squad, PO Box 325, Scotch Plains, NJ. 07076 would be appreciated.
