CASTINE, Maine—Maine Maritime Academy’s Department of Arts and Sciences will host writer and filmmaker Peter Davis reading from his new novel “Girl of My Dreams” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 6 at BIW Auditorium on the college campus in Castine. CASTINE, Maine—The Maine Chapter of the Fulbright Association will host a morning of presentations on the Arctic, climate change, and the Fulbright Scholar Program at Maine Maritime Academy on Friday, July 10, 2015. The public is invited to attend the three presentations, which are offered free of charge.
A breakfast and networking session will precede morning presentations from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Later in the day, a dinner and presentation will be given by Captain Richard (Rick) Miller who will speak on the subject of “Arctic Sailing on the Bowdoin: Memoirs of a Captain” at The Manor Inn in Castine. CASTINE, Maine—Maine Maritime Academy’s Training Ship State of Maine, transiting the Atlantic Ocean, responded to a distress call yesterday morning. The training ship was heading toward Portland, Maine Wednesday morning when Captain Leslie Eadie was contacted by the U.S. Coast Guard Regional Coordination Center in Boston regarding a sailing vessel in the vicinity that was taking on water. The Prodigal, a sailing vessel registered in Norfolk, Virginia, was battered by recent storms, and its Captain, Michael Hurley, had radioed for help.
CASTINE, Maine—Beginning June 22, 2015, Maine Maritime Academy will offer a professional course in Environmental Regulations & Ethical Industrial Compliance (EREIC), a self-paced, online course awarding four Continuing Education Units and a certificate of completion. The course is designed to educate mariners serving on United States-registered vessels and those who work with them about environmental regulations governing their industry.

Brennan, president of Maine Maritime Academy, announced today that the Bowdoin Centennial Campaign—a $1.6-million-dollar fundraising campaign launched by the Academy in November of 2014—received a lead gift of $500,000 from the Herman D. The Academy’s annual Student Life Awards Banquet, held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, recognized students who have contributed time, knowledge and skills to help better the college and surrounding community.
BANGOR, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy will host an informational workshop for prospective students and their parents to learn about admission to Federal service academies on Tuesday, April 28 in Bangor. The workshop, offered free of charge and open to the public, will be presented at the Hilton Garden Inn, 250 Haskell Road in Bangor, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Registration will open at 5:30 p.m.
