CASTINE, Maine—Maine Maritime Academy’s schooner Bowdoin, a National Historic Landmark and the Official Vessel of the State of Maine, will be home to three groups of students in the Vessel Operations and Technology program this summer. Students will be sailing coastwise and offshore as part of sail training courses during which they learn to navigate and maintain the vessel to fulfill degree requirements and competencies toward a U.S. Coast Guard limited license.Read More…

CASTINE, Maine – The International Guild of Miniature Artisans (IGMA) will be hosting the 36th annual Guild School at Maine Maritime Academy from June 10-16. Free exhibitions for the public will be held June 11-14 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and on June 15 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the Harborview Room at the Alfond Student Center.
CASTINE, Maine—Maine Maritime Academy students, officers, and crew will depart Castine on Wednesday, May 10 at approximately 5:00 PM on the Training Ship State of Maine (TSSOM) for the annual training evolution to foreign and domestic ports of call. This year’s itinerary includes stops in Charleston, South Carolina; Tenerife, Spain; Halifax, Nova Scotia; Portland, Maine; Edinburgh, Scotland; Cobh, Ireland; and New York, New York. CASTINE, Maine—The Class of 2017 Commencement will be held at Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday, May 6 at 11 a.m. at the Alexander Field House in Castine. Senator Susan M. Collins will be the college’s Commencement speaker. Senator Collins has served in the United States Senate since 1997 and currently ranks fifteenth in Senate seniority. She chairs the Senate Aging Committee and the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee. She also serves on the Intelligence Committee and the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.
CASTINE, Maine—The Maine Maritime Academy Board of Trustees will meet in committees from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5 in the Holmes Heritage Room, located at the Harold Alfond Student Center on the campus in Castine. CASTINE, Maine—At a banquet held on Thursday, April 5, the Maine Maritime Academy Student Life Awards Committee recognized outstanding members of the MMA and Castine community whose contributions include various service projects, athletics, employment and volunteer programs, and other co-curricular activities.
CASTINE, Maine—At a banquet held on Monday, March 20, the Maine Maritime Academy Regimental Awards recognized students for their strength of character, seamanship, and overall leadership on campus. This year, the entire Regiment was welcomed to the banquet, including nearly 600 students who enjoyed dinner sitting with their companies.
