Castine, Maine—Maine Maritime Academy ranked #12 on Money magazine’s new Best Colleges list released this week, a “new approach to ranking colleges that uses unique measures of educational quality, affordability, and career outcomes to help families find the right school at the right price.”
In Money’s related highlights lists, Maine Maritime Academy also earned top ratings: #1 in Best Public Colleges (highest ranked public colleges and universities on the Money Best Colleges list) and #4 in the 25 Colleges That Add the Most Value (graduates exceed the averages for their peer groups by the widest margin; factors considered included the percentage of students who complete college and how much alumni typically earn).
“As a small public college with many points of differentiation, we consistently strive to convey the value of the high-tech, hands-on education we provide,” said Dr. William J. Brennan, President. “Money’s rankings—taking into consideration quality, affordability and outcomes—help to tell that story, and our student evaluations help as well. This year, when we asked our seniors if they believed the financial commitment for their MMA degree was a good investment, 98% said ‘yes.’” (Source: MMA Next Destination Survey of graduating seniors (all majors), 4/2014)
The Best Colleges list is the result of a nine-month research and analysis project reviewing 665 institutions on 17 factors.
Maine Maritime Academy is a co-educational, public college on the coast of Maine offering 18 degree programs in engineering, management, science and transportation. The college’s persistence, retention and graduation rates are well above national averages. The job placement rate for MMA graduates is in excess of 90 percent within 90 days of graduation.
