Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Chief Financial Officer Join Maine Maritime Academy Staff

CASTINE, Maine—Dr. William J. Brennan, President of Maine Maritime Academy, has announced two new hires in Leadership Team positions for the college: Chief Financial Officer and Vice President for Institutional Advancement.

Chief Financial Officer Petra Carver comes to the Academy with 30-plus years of finance and administration experience, 14 of which have been in higher education. Most recently, Ms. Carver served as Vice President for Finance and Administration and CFO for The College of Idaho in Caldwell. Previous to that position, she worked for Wilkes University in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania as Vice President for Finance and Support Operations; for Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin as Vice President for Finance and Administration; and, for The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington as Director of Business Services. Ms. Carver earned a Master of Business Administration at St. Martin’s University in Olympia, Washington and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting at Fachhochschule Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.

Christopher J. Haley, VP for Institutional Advancement, has 25-plus years of experience in fundraising for higher education, secondary education, and healthcare. Most recently, Mr. Haley directed philanthropy at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. Prior to moving to Maine for that position, he served as Director of Advancement for the School of Management at Boston University; Director of Development for the Sellinger School of Business and Management at Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore; and Director of Major Gifts at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland. Mr. Haley earned an Executive Master of Business Administration from Loyola University Maryland and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Marketing from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Maine Maritime Academy is a co-educational, public college on the coast of Maine offering 18 degree programs in engineering, management, science and transportation.
