Over the last few weeks, the crew at the shipyard in Boothbay has been very busy finalizing project details and prepping Bowdoin for launch! Tonight, June 17, at the high tide around midnight, we will get Bowdoin back in the water.
We will be keeping Bowdoin in Boothbay Harbor for about a week to let the vessel swell up from a long winter out of the water. We will also use this time to continue outfitting her for sailing during upcoming training cruises in July and August.
Happily, our time in Boothbay Harbor will overlap with Windjammer Days, and we are taking the opportunity to open the vessel up to the public for deck tours. If you’re in the area on Wednesday, June 26, consider stopping by for a visit! We’ll be doing tours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and would love to have you on board.
Thank you all for your interest and support of Bowdoin throughout this hull restoration project and beyond. We hope we can get you out for a sail this season!
All the best,
Captain McLean
