John Wlodkowski

John Wlodkowski PhotoOn this Veteran’s Day, I would like to acknowledge the service of my paternal grandfather, John B. Wlodkowski. A graduate of the Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Wlodkowski was a field surgeon and held the rank of major in the U.S. Fifth Army during the Second World War. Under the command of Lieutenant General Mark Wayne Clark, he participated in the Salermo Landings, the storming of the Anzio beachhead, and saw the liberation of Rome from the Axis powers.

After the war, Dr. Wlodkowski ran a successful medical practice in Manchester, NH. He instilled in me a love of country, history, and the importance of education.
