Saint Francis of Assisi has a laundry list of quotes attributed to him. Of note is this one, “Preach the gospel at all times and when necessary, use words.” Regardless of faith affiliation, it’s a perfect illustration of leading by example. My beautiful mother is the epitome of this. She taught my siblings and me to “take the high road” by remaining humble in the moments when we just want to snap, to never dialogue temptation, and to be mindful that the best thing we can do is to do something for someone else. She is the strongest, kindest, and most generous lady I know.
