Grammie Lillian

Grammie Lillian's hand

From the time I was born, these hands picked me up and held me when I was sick or afraid. These hands made me lunch and then rubbed my back until I fell asleep, after I got off the bus from kindergarten. These hands lifted me up onto the counter and taught me how to bake. These hands held the cards as I learned how to play Spades, Rummy and Uno. These hands worked to help put new socks and underwear on my body at the start of every school year and presents under the tree every Christmas. These hands held mine as I took my first plane ride. These 99 year old hands held me up more times than I could possibly count. If I can be half of the grandmother that she was to me, I will consider myself a success.
