Michael J. Robinson ’81

Michael “Mike” J. Robinson, 70, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, November 14, 2024, after a fierce six-year battle with Glioblastoma. He fought with incredible faith, courage, and bravery. Mike was born on November 2, 1954, in South Portland, Maine, to his parents, Jean McCallum, of South Portland, and father, Freeman Albert “Tim” Robinson, of Benedicta, Maine.

Mike married Duska Dunning of Bangor, on September 22, 2000, and together they raised three wonderful sons, Ryan “Tim” Freeman II and John “Jack” Freeman, who were the love and pride of his life. He loved music, Rocky movies, golf, history, and most of all, spending time with family and friends both near and far. His annual Christmas party was a highlight of every holiday season. A graduate from Maine Maritime Academy, Mike was later employed as a banker. He was also the President of Dakin Pool, Past President of Bangor Breakfast Kiwanis, Former Pack Master for Cub Scouts pack 10, very involved with his church, Saint Paul the Apostle, and active in both city and county Democratic parties. As the community would attest, he “never met a stranger.”

He is survived by his wife, Duska; sons, Freeman “Tim” II and his wife, Kristin, and John “Jack”; his sister, Louanne and her son, Gus; nephews, J. Ryan and his wife, Ashley and their children, Sophia and Fletcher, and Chris and his son, Caleb; close cousins, Barbara and Philip Joyce; beloved aunts, many cousins; as well as several close friends who he thought of as extended family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers, David Robinson and Richard “Dick” Robinson. Mike will be dearly missed and forever held in our hearts.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, November 22, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 217 York St., Bangor, followed by the Rite of Committal in Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
