Aelfred D. Flagg ’43-1
Aelfred D. Flagg, 79, of Spring Rd., North Haven, died Tuesday, (June 5, 2001) at St. Raphael’s Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia DeWever Flagg. Born in Flushing, Long Island, NY on Sept. 25, 1921, son of the late Dr. Paluel J. and Dorothy Ritter Flagg. Co-publisher of the Advisor, he graduated from Fordham Prep and attended NYU. Prior to joining the U.S. Navy during World War II, he graduated from the Maine Maritime Academy. He had served as navigator and executive officer for three years on the USS Megrez. After the war he attended the University of Maine graduating with a degree in Business Administration. He joined the W.T. Grant Co. from trainee to manager and was transferred to many locations. In 1965 the Advisor was born and Al committed himself to the building of the newspaper. He was a member of the Pine Grove Men’s Club, past president and member of the North Haven Rotary Club and a member of the Sacred Order of the Golden Dragon. Father of Colonel Paluel J. Flagg of East Granby and Danielle D. Flagg of Meriden; grandfather of Brett DeWever Flagg and Lance Joseph Flagg; brother of Sister Virginia Flagg, Jane Duell, Dorothy Webster, Dr. James Flagg, Peter and Paul Flagg, Marianne Gassner, Noel and Thomas Flagg and the late Paluel V. and Francis Flagg.
