Robert W. Pierce ’84
Robert W. Pierce, 46, of Haley Road, died suddenly on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at his cabin in Jackman, Maine.
He was born in Portsmouth, N.H., on June 13, 1962. He attended local schools, graduating from R.W. Traip Academy with the Class of 1980. He furthered his education at Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, graduating with a degree in engineering. Robert utilized his education as a merchant marine for many years.
He was employed by Conoco Phillips, seeing them through several company transitions. He was currently shipping as a chief engineer.
He is survived by his wife, Karen (Vitiaz) Pierce, and her parents, Victor and Waneta Vitiaz in Kittery; his parents, William and Joy Pierce of Kittery Point; sisters Cindy and AdaLynne Pierce and Diane Kallay and her husband, Scott, of Kittery; a brother-in-law, Christopher Vitiaz of Portsmouth, N.H.; a niece; several cousins; and many, many friends.
