Join us as Dr. William J. Brennan, President of Maine Maritime Academy, welcomes students to this Virtual Open House! Following his remarks, Dr. Keith Williamson, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, will briefly discuss academic opportunities and what makes Maine Maritime Academy unique.

This session will explain MMA’s Marine Engineering programs with a focus on the differences between Operations and Technology. The presentors will dive into the coursework, sailing requirements for the U.S. Coast Guard 3rd Assistant Engineering License, and discuss job options after graduation.

Taking a close look at MMA’s three transportation (deck) majors, this session will highlight how each program differs in terms of the sea-time requirements and the U.S. Coast Guard licenses involved. Our professors also cover how each license translates into different job options after graduation.

Our engineering faculty will outline the academic degree for the Marine Systems Engineering major, its focus on Naval Architecture, and the optional 5-year program that earns graduates the U.S. Coast Guard 3rd Engineer’s License.

The Ocean Studies department will discuss Marine Biology, Oceanography, and Coastal and Marine Environmental Science. They will explain the differences in the programs, opportunities for field and laboratory experiences, and career pathways. The session also covers the benefit of combining an OS degree with the Small Vessel Operations (SVO) major.

Our Power Engineering professors will explain MMA’s Power Engineering programs and the differences between Operations and Technology. They will dive into details about the curriculum, summer power field experiences, and discuss job options after graduation.

The International Business and Logistics (IBL) faculty will discuss why our IBL program is considered one of the best logistics programs in the country, as well as the diverse fields our alumni are employed in after graduation. They will answer the question ‘why study logistics’?

Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management, Kelly Gualtieri, will dive into the cost of attendance at MMA, including the direct and indirect costs, how merit scholarships are awarded, and additional scholarship opportunities available to students. She will also discuss the timeline and materials needed for the application process.

The Loeb-Sullivan School’s MS degree programs prepare students for the challenges of managing logistics operations for global supply chains in a variety of industries. Hear how you can join the program and what a master’s in International Logistics Management or Maritime Management can do for your career!

Our Director of Student Life will discuss next steps for becoming an enrolled student in August, including housing, meal plans, and New Student Orientation. You will also get a chance to meet other accepted students (virtually!) and get your questions answered.

Steve Peed, MMA’s Athletic Director, will provide an overview of athletics and the many athletic conferences in which our teams compete. He will be joined by other coaches, giving you the chance to ask questions and meet the students and staff that make up the athletics department.

Lt. Gray and Lt. Armstrong will explain the Navy ROTC and the Strategic Sealift Officer Program, a program for unlimited USCG license majors that leads to a commission in the Naval Reserve. They will discuss the application processes, student incentive programs and commissioning.
