Build Your Foundation for Success at MMA
If you’re ready to chart your course at Maine Maritime Academy but need to strengthen your academic foundation first, MMA Prep can help you get there.
MMA Prep is designed to help students meet the Academy’s rigorous academic standards and transition smoothly into a bachelor’s degree program in business, engineering, technology, science, or transportation.
What Is MMA Prep?
MMA Prep is a collaborative academic agreement between the Maine Community College System and Maine Maritime Academy.
This partnership provides a clear pathway to an MMA degree while allowing students to begin their studies at a community college.
- In Maine: MMA Prep is available at any of the state’s seven community colleges.
- Outside of Maine: Students may complete equivalent coursework at another two-year or four-year institution before enrolling at MMA.
How It Works
Students in the MMA Prep program complete foundational coursework during a prep year, ensuring they are fully prepared to succeed at Maine Maritime Academy. Depending on your level of preparedness, this could be an example of 1st Year course load. The courses with a course code following have been pre-approved for transfer to MMA, provided a C or better grade is earned. These reflect Eastern Maine Community College courses. Course codes will differ at other colleges / universities and would need to be reviewed for transferability. Students should discuss their goals with an admissions representative at MMA for assistance in building a prep year that is most beneficial to their foundational learning and major of choice at MMA.
