Softball
Maine Maritime's softball squad posted
another solid season with a 14-18 mark.
The Mariners advanced into the North
Atlantic Conference playoffs for the
third consecutive season and fifth time
in the last six years.
Maine Maritime produced three All-
NAC selections in 2012. Leah Jackson
'13 was named to the First Team at
catcher, where she also earned the
NAC's Defensive Player of the Year
Award for the second time in as many
seasons. Jackson gunned down 14-
of-29 would-be-bag thieves in 2012.
Jackson was also named to the NAC All-
Academic Team.
Erica Taylor '14 was named to the First
Team as a pitcher/utility player. The
Mariners' cleanup batter hit .425 in 2012
with a school record of 10 home runs to
complement eight doubles and a team-
best 28 RBIs. Taylor owned a slugging
percentage of .900 and an on base
percentage of .489.
Sabrina Keach '13 was named to
the Second Team at first base, where
she owned a .967 fielding percentage
through 183 chances. Keach sported
a team-high .434 average with five
doubles, two triples and two home runs
to her credit. The Mariners' five-hitter
scored 27 times and drove in 21 runs.
