Jessica D’Auria (Jess) earned her B.S. in Marine Biology from Maine Maritime Academy in 2021. While attending, she was a member of the Women’s Volleyball Team and was a 3x NAC Champion. Since graduating, she has lived all around the world. Her first move after graduation was to Naples, Florida working as a sea turtle conservationist at the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. After the end of her first season, she was recruited to play volleyball for Bournemouth University in the United Kingdom along with getting her Master’s in Biodiversity Conservation. Upon graduation, she moved to Greece where she worked for the Archipelagos Institute of Marine Conservation. Here she was building artificial reefs, monitoring invasive species, and monitoring octopus populations. Since moving back to the States, she has been working for MMA as an adjunct faculty in the ocean studies department teaching conservation science along with being the assistant women’s volleyball coach. Shortly Jess will be starting a new position as a lab manager at Florida State University in the Marine Turtle Research, Ecology And Conservation Group where she will hopefully settle down and stop moving because it’s expensive and she’s tired.
