Campus Safety<\/h1>\n

Automobiles<\/h3>\n

Due to the small size of the campus, and the limited parking available, first year students are not eligible to have a vehicle and are prohibited from purchasing a permit. All students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to walk to and from class and other activities. All MMA faculty, staff and students who are eligible to park their vehicle on campus, at the Waterfront or in the Penobscot lot during the academic year must register their vehicle and properly display a current MMA parking permit at all times. Individuals may obtain more information and register for permits online at http:\/\/mainemaritime.edu\/campus-safety\/parking-management\/<\/a>.\u00a0 Permits may be picked up at Campus Safety (Windlass House), after the permit has been ordered. Permits are issued on a first-come, first-serve basis.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Security<\/h3>\n

All campus members are responsible for the security of our campus and should not prop any door open at any time, nor allow others entry to secured spaces. Campus members should make sure windows are closed and locked when rooms are unoccupied. Most exterior doors are locked 24 hours a day and are accessible through card scan. Overnight guests must be signed in at the front desk of Curtis Hall. Contractors must sign in at Campus Safety prior to beginning work. Your cooperation improves security for all.<\/p>\n

Reporting Safety Concerns<\/h3>\n

Maine Maritime Academy is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for its students, employees and campus visitors. Community members are encouraged to report potential hazards, unsafe working conditions or other safety concerns. Alerts<\/h3>\n

If you would like to get an alert when there are weather delays, cancellations or other emergency alerts, please sign up for Omnilert, the campus emergency notification system here: https:\/\/mma.omnilert.net\/subscriber.php\/<\/a>. Our emergency notification system enables college officials to send urgent news and instant alerts directly to your registered email account(s) and mobile devices via SMS text messages. Personal Property<\/h3>\n

Owners of vehicles parked on Maine Maritime Academy property park at their own risk. Maine Maritime Academy is not responsible for theft, fire, water damage, vandalism or any other damages that might occur while parked on property owned or under the control of the Academy. Owners and operators of motor vehicles on campus are required by Maine law and by this policy to carry and maintain liability insurance on their vehicle and are encouraged to regularly monitor their vehicles parked in Academy lots.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
