2021 Summer Training Cruise B-1

Training Cruise B-1 Information

Midshipmen, we look forward to welcoming you aboard!

The following information will help you prepare for your upcoming cruise aboard the Training Ship State of Maine and ensure your success throughout Cruise B-1. Cruise begins on July 7 and ends on August 13. If you have additional questions, please contact the Regimental Office at 207-326-2250.

Vaccination Status

All participants will be required to submit their vaccination status prior to the beginning of cruise.

Please complete this short survey at your earliest convenience; the deadline for doing so is 1600, May 21, 2021.

As a reminder, receiving a COVID-19 vaccination is not mandatory to participate in Cruise B-1. However, if you are not fully vaccinated, you will need to follow certain quarantine and testing procedures and will likely not be able to depart the ship on liberty during port stops.

Please review the following information carefully:

  • Being ‘fully vaccinated’ means that at least 14 days have elapsed since your final dose of the vaccine.
  • If you are fully vaccinated by Wednesday, July 7, then you do not need to quarantine prior to Cruise B-1, nor do you need to have COVID-19 tests prior to boarding. We are planning port stops where fully vaccinated individuals may depart the ship on liberty.
  • Unvaccinated persons and those who have not met the fully vaccinated requirements must arrive in Castine on Thursday, July 1, by 1000 for a COVID-19 test and will quarantine until boarding TSSOM. Quarantine status means you must stay in campus housing, at home, or in an off-campus apartment and not interact with others. You may exercise outside if you stay at least six feet away from others. You may purchase a meal plan if you need to stay on campus or you can bring food with you to cook in your Commons apartment. You must wear a mask whenever you are with others.
  • Unvaccinated persons may not be granted liberty off the ship due to health concerns.

*Note: If you are entering Maine from a foreign location, we encourage you to check the Maine CDC website for guidance, regardless of your vaccination status. Currently, if you arrive from a foreign location, you must have a COVID-19 test five days after your return to the United States and provide results from the test before boarding TSSOM.

Vaccine Clinic

If you are interested in receiving a vaccination and can be in Castine on Friday, May 21, we will have a vaccination clinic on campus at 1700. The J&J vaccine will be administered. If you would like to participate in this, please register via the survey linked above or contact Duffy Woods at dorothea.woods@mma.edu by noon on Wednesday, May 19.
