2021 Training Cruise B-2

Day 10: See ya, South Carolina!

Posted on: November 29, 2021

Weather Sunny, N Wind at 6.95 kts, 55°F Air, 61°F Sea

Our departure today began at 1300 with the arrival of the tugs and pilot. Members of today’s maintenance company assisted in tying the tugs off before starting to let the mooring lines go one by one until the TSSOM was free of the pier. From here manuvering began with the main engine of the TSSOM on standby as the training ship was pulled off the pier and turned around to face the exit to the docks. Many students used this as an opportunity to get a closer look at the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown on the other side of the shore, earning small crowds on the port side to observe the operations. Final calls to family were also made during this time as we began our journey to the next port, St. Croix.

Due to the Training Ship’s limited connectivity, blog postings are delayed and are not intended for real-time communication. To communicate with your student, please send a message to his or her issued e-mail address.
