During this event, we will recognize the superior accomplishments of our Midshipmen and celebrate their vision, effort, and tenacity. Award recipients have demonstrated a path to success for their peers and serve as models for others to follow while attempting to duplicate their achievements. This year, 18 students have been nominated for nine distinguished award opportunities. Additionally, the ceremony will include recognizing the high academic student achievers for both Deck and Engineer Cadet Shipping Projects. The ceremony will conclude with recognizing the outgoing Regimental Student Leaders who served in the Wedge.<\/p>\n<p>The 2026 Regimental Awards Ceremony will take place on <strong>April 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.<\/strong> (ET) in the Field House. This hybrid event is available to in-person attendees and will be livestreamed on <strong>YouTube<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"accordionAward\" class=\"panel-group\">\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\">\n<div class=\"panel-heading\">\n<h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a class=\"accordion-toggle collapsed\" href=\"#staf2\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordionAward\"><strong>Sea Coast Alumni Chapter Scholarships<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"staf2\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\">\n<div class=\"panel-body\">\n<p>The Sea Coast Alumni Chapter Scholarships are comprised of two awards. The two scholarships are the <u>Captain Thomas Smith Scholarship Award<\/u> of $500 given to the Cadet Master and the <u>Paul Mercer Scholarship Award<\/u> of $500 given to the Cadet Chief Engineer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Winners<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\">\n<div class=\"panel-heading\">\n<h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a class=\"accordion-toggle collapsed\" href=\"#cas1\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordionAward\"><strong>The Portland Marine Society Scholarships<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"cas1\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\">\n<div class=\"panel-body\">\n<p>The Portland Marine Society will award four $3,000.00 scholarships based on academic performance and leadership abilities.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"noborder alignnone wp-image-6338 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/mainemaritime.edu\/student-life\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2023\/04\/pms-logo.jpg\" alt=\"Portland Marine Society\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mainemaritime.edu\/student-life\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2023\/04\/pms-logo.jpg 200w, https:\/\/mainemaritime.edu\/student-life\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2023\/04\/pms-logo-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Winners<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\">\n<div class=\"panel-heading\">\n<h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a class=\"accordion-toggle collapsed\" href=\"#class72\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordionAward\"><strong>Class of &#8217;72 Scholarship Award<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"class72\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\">\n<div class=\"panel-body\">\n<p>As a class they recognized the support alumni played during their journey at MMA and now wish to pay it forward and help today&#8217;s students. As a class they hope future classes will model their commitment to supporting MMA students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Winners<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\">\n<div class=\"panel-heading\">\n<h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a class=\"accordion-toggle collapsed\" href=\"#staf6\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordionAward\"><strong>Regimental Alumni Development Award<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"staf6\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\">\n<div class=\"panel-body\">\n<p>The Regimental Alumni Development Award is awarded to the student who exemplifies regimental values and displays diligence in the Marine Engineering program. A perpetual plaque hangs in Curtis Hall with each year\u2019s recipient name engraved on a brass plate.<\/p>\n<p>Artec Machine Systems and the Amendola Family classes of 86\u2019 and 15\u2019 are proud to present the Regimental Alumni Development Award.<\/p>\n<p>This annual award now, in its 11th year at MMA represents the pride we have for this Academy and the Maritime Community. The academy has given our family so much, and we look at this award as a small way to give something back.<\/p>\n<p>Without question MMA produces some of the finest maritime professionals the industry has ever known.<\/p>\n<p>The recipient of this award receives a $750.00 award as well as the opportunity to attend a 2-day hands on reduction gear training seminar with all expenses paid valued at approximately $2,000.00.<\/p>\n<p>This biennial event shall be hosted and administered by Artec Machine Systems in April of 2025 in Artec&#8217;s headquarters in North Branford, CT.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Winner<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\">\n<div class=\"panel-heading\">\n<h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a class=\"accordion-toggle collapsed\" href=\"#staff7\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordionAward\"><strong>Admiral Warren C. Hamm Award<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"staff7\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\">\n<div class=\"panel-body\">\n<p>The Admiral Warren C. Hamm Award and $1,000 scholarship was started by Admiral Hamm, \u201949 to recognize a student who exemplifies the traits of leadership, accountability, and loyalty. This particular award is reserved for a 3\/C Midshipmen. Each year, the recipient&#8217;s name is engraved on a brass plate and is added to a perpetual plaque that hangs in Curtis Hall.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Winner<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\">\n<div class=\"panel-heading\">\n<h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a class=\"accordion-toggle collapsed\" href=\"#staff8\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordionAward\"><strong>Lester R. Paton Naval Leadership Sword Award &amp; Medal of Merit Award<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"staff8\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\">\n<div class=\"panel-body\">\n<p>The Lester R. Paton Naval Leadership Sword is presented to a 2\/C or 1\/C Midshipman who continuously looks to further the goals and mission of the Regiment, regardless of rank or responsibility.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Winner<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"panel panel-default\">\n<div class=\"panel-heading\">\n<h4 class=\"panel-title\"><a class=\"accordion-toggle collapsed\" href=\"#staff9\" data-toggle=\"collapse\" data-parent=\"#accordionAward\"><strong>Eugene J. Silva Award<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"staff9\" class=\"panel-collapse collapse\">\n<div class=\"panel-body\">\n<p>The Eugene J. Silva Award and $1,000 scholarship is given to a First Class Midshipman of any rank who demonstrates the qualities of leadership and character as described by Eugene J Silva \u201964. These qualities include personal honor, integrity, courage, truthfulness, fidelity to principle, self-disciplined, inspirational, tenacious, tough, fair, and caring in the treatment of those in his\/her charge. In short, the leader who inspires others to follow shall be the recipient of this award.
