Our first international stop has taken us to the scenic and vibrant St. John’s Harbor, where we’ve been soaking in the rich history and stunning landscapes. For some of us, this marks our first time venturing outside the U.S., and the experience has been extraordinary. The vibrant waterfront and everyone we\u2019ve met have made exploring this harbor city a memorable experience.<\/p>\n
One of the most noticeable differences when traveling to Canada is the vibrant and unique artwork on the colorful Canadian currency featuring important national symbols. The crew\u2019s favorite coin is the “dime,” Canada\u2019s 10-cent piece. It\u2019s the smallest coin by size and very thin. Its design features the Bluenose, a famous Canadian sailboat that was the fastest racing ship in the world for almost 20 years.<\/p>\n
We\u2019ve also enjoyed Canada\u2019s $5 bill, which is blue and features a portrait of former prime minister Wilfrid Laurier. On the reverse, it depicts the Canadarm, a robotic arm designed in Canada and used on NASA missions between 1981 and 2011.<\/p>\n
We’ve explored the historic streets, visited local landmarks, and sampled delicious seafood fresh from the Atlantic. The iconic Signal Hill provided breathtaking views of the harbor and the city. As we explore St. John’s, Newfoundland, we’re excited to see what other adventures await us as we prepare to continue our journey to the Arctic.<\/p>\n
