Bowdoin at Front Street Shipyard for Planned Yard Period

Posted on: May 18, 2018

Bowdoin was hauled out in Belfast for an annual “shave and haircut,” as many describe the ship yard period where a vessel gets hauled out for pressure washing and bottom paint.

Bowdoin will be “on the hard” for the next week at Front Street Shipyard in Belfast, Maine. This is a great opportunity for our ten-student crew to see the workings of a first class shipyard, and see what it takes to maintain the hull of a 97-year-old wooden vessel.
