How Do I Join?MMA NROTC

  • NROTC:

    • The National Scholarship application opens in April and closes on 31 December.
      • The National Scholarship pays full tuition and fees, book allowances, and stipends at Maine Maritime Academy or University of Maine. Maine Maritime Academy and the University of Maine also pay for room and board for four year scholarship recipients
      • Apply for the scholarship here:
    • If you are not selected for the National Scholarship, you can still join the NROTC Program as a College Program student.  As a College Program student, you will be able to apply for several scholarships during your Freshman and Sophomore years of college.  If selected for one of these scholarships, you will be commissioned as an officer upon graduation.  If you have not been selected by the beginning of your Junior year of college, you will be dis-enrolled from the program.

        • Freshman Year: Apply for a three year scholarship
        • Spring Semester Sophomore Year: Apply for a two year scholarship
        • Advanced Standing: If you are not selected for a two year scholarship, your application is automatically considered for Advanced Standing.  Advanced Standing does not cover tuition but it does provide a stipend and a pathway to a commission in the Navy or Marine Corps
  • SSMP:

    • The Strategic Sealift Midshipman Program leads to a commission as a Strategic Sealift Officer in the United States Navy Reserve.
