Alpha Phi Omega fraternity to celebrate 50 years on campus.

On May 9, 1969, Maine Maritime Academy welcomed a chapter of the Alpha Phi Omega (APO) Fraternity, Phi Epsilon, to campus. APO is a co-ed national service fraternity with more than 17,000 student members at 366 college campuses nationwide.

The MMA chapter marks its 50th year of uniting campus and community leaders through service. Projects include organizing Red Cross Blood Drives, the annual Boy Scout Klondike Derby, Girl Scout GEMS (Girls in Engineering Math and Science), working to support the needs of the Castine community and much more. This year APO will host the regional chapter leadership conference known as Conclave on March 29-31, 2019.

Chapter president Mackenzie Philbrick notes the group will be represented among other clubs and organizations at this year’s homecoming. “We’re eager to inform alumni about our activities and events,” she says, “and to hear ideas on how APO can observe its anniversary.” For more information about Conclave and APO 50th Anniversary events, please contact Mackenzie at mackenzie.philbrick@mma.edu.
