Catching Up on Academics

Unlike last year, the Fall 2021 Academic Calendar will operate on a regular 14-week schedule. This fall, 94% of our classes will take place in person; the rest will be delivered asynchronously.

Students participating in Cruise B-2 will depart campus at the end of Week 12 and complete the remainder of the semester at sea; final exams will be ‘take-home’ and completed aboard the Training Ship State of Maine. Current cruise itinerary is as follows:

  • 14 November 2021 (Sunday) – Move aboard for Cadets starting at 0800 – Set in port watch officer rotation
  • 17 November 2021 (Wednesday) – Underway from Castine 0930-1000
  • 22 November 2021 (Monday) – Arrive Charleston, SC
  • 23 November 2021 (Tuesday) – Depart Charleston, SC
  • 2 December 2021 (Thursday) – Arrive Frederiksted, St. Croix, USVI
  • 5 December 2021 (Sunday) – Depart Frederiksted
  • 12 December 2021 (Sunday) – Arrive Port Canaveral, FL
  • 13 December 2021 (Monday) – Depart Port Canaveral, FL
  • 19 December 2021 (Sunday) – Alongside Castine at 1030-1100
  • 20-21 December 2021 – Offload stores/debris; Cruise officially ends 1600

Students remaining on campus during the cruise period will have Thanksgiving Break and return to campus for the final week of classes and a week of final exams. The complete 2021-2022 Academic Calendar can be viewed here. With current conditions as they are, this is subject to change.
