Central to this effort was CDR Paul Jacobs, MMA class of 1958, Commanding Officer of the USS Kirk (FF-1087), and her crew.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0ceremony was attended by a range of dignitaries, including congressional, county and city officials, as well as members of the Vietnamese community of Southern California and a host of other local government representatives and Vietnamese community leaders.<\/p>\n<p>Frank Tepedino, Esq., MMA Class of 1958, opened the events with an introduction of\u00a0Passage to Freedom,\u00a0a brief video recollection of the events being commemorated, which was produced by Billy Sims, Mariner magazine editor, in conjunction with Capt.
