A Night By The Bay

Successful Night by the Bay Raises Nearly $75,000

MMA alumni and friends gathered April 7 at the Sable Oaks Marriott for a night of fun, laughter, music and fundraising at the festive Night by the Bay auction.

Nearly $75,000 was raised for student scholarships. More than 250 guests socialized while bidding on 65 silent auction items, such as a Tibetan hand-knotted rug ($575), an Isle of Shoals tour ($230) and an MMA-welded outdoor fire pit ($200).  The spirited live auction followed, where attendees bid heartily for 21 beautiful items.

Two Eric Hopkins paintings went for top dollar ($4,600 total); a port light door table, built from a USS Upshur promenade deck door brought a highest bid of $1,600; and a Bowdoin sail for up to 30 guests raised $1,300.

John Page ’68 and the State Street Traditional Jazz Band provided lively entertainment following the live auction.
