Unrestricted gifts keep student costs down by bridging the gap between tuition and annual expenses.<\/p>\n<p>Tuition covered just 42% of MMA\u2019s operating expenses last year; the balance came from state and federal funding, foundation grants, and gifts from alumni, staff, students, and the Academy\u2019s many friends.<\/p>\n<p>The 2021 Annual Campaign raised a record-setting $1,080,200 \u2013 the first year our Annual Fund exceeded a million dollars. That equates to $1,256 per student enrolled this year. Where did that money go?<\/p>\n<p>Annual Fund gifts helped re-power and upgrade the Academy\u2019s welding lab. The Annual Fund also helped to pay for a new roof for Leavitt Hall and energy-efficient replacement windows \u2013 exponentially important gifts as these will save the Academy money every year.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, $335,400 in scholarships were awarded in FY2021 thanks to annual pass-through scholarships and augmenting earnings from endowed funds designated for financial aid.<br \/>\nThis year\u2019s cash goal is $1,135,000. A gift of any size will be greatly appreciated \u2013 even small gifts make a big difference.
