MMA Admissions Hosts Leadership Challenge Weekend<\/h1>\n

THE MAINE MARITIME Academy Admissions hosted JROTC units from Maine and New Hampshire for Leadership Challenge Weekend, which took place March 21 to 23. Five high schools and approximately 80 JROTC cadets participated in the event.<\/p>\n

The Regiment of Midshipmen provided a leadership team that introduced the JROTC cadets to the Academy\u2019s campus, managed activities, and conducted training exercises. According to Assistant Director of Admissions Ross Cottrell, the weekend is an \u201copportunity for MMA cadets to work together to gain a solid practical foundation for running their RPT experience in the fall.\u201d<\/p>\n

As a part of the event, the Maine Army National Guard landed a UH60 Blackhawk helicopter at Ft. George, just above campus. The Guard also ran an obstacle course called the Chamberlan Challenge, which challenges cadets\u2019 leadership, comradery, perseverance, and ingenuity.<\/p>\n
