But, in 2021, the at-sea training schedule was modified to recover sea time that was lost due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Two 37-day cruises were completed throughout the spring and summer before a third cruise departed Castine in November.<br \/>\n\u201cThe pandemic caused disruptions at every level, but we evolved our programming to regain lost ground,\u201d explains<\/p>\n<p>John Cashman, Commandant of Midshipmen. \u201cThanks to the perseverance of the students, crew, faculty, and staff, we were able to fulfill MMA\u2019s core mission despite the obstacles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the winter cruise, TSSOM visited Charleston, South Carolina, Frederiksted, St. Croix, USVI, and Port Canaveral, Florida.
