{"id":3733,"date":"2023-08-28T15:40:49","date_gmt":"2023-08-28T15:40:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mainemaritime.edu\/giving\/?page_id=3733"},"modified":"2023-09-01T18:59:41","modified_gmt":"2023-09-01T18:59:41","slug":"karrie-trauth","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mainemaritime.edu\/giving\/events\/admirals-dinner\/karrie-trauth\/","title":{"rendered":"Karrie Trauth"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"textBox\">\n<p>Karrie Trauth is the Senior Vice President and Global Head of Shipping &amp; Maritime Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited.\u00a0 Since 1st August 2021, Karrie has been responsible for Shell\u2019s international shipping and maritime activities, including ships, barges, drilling units, floating production facilities and related operations.\u00a0 Her work spans Shell\u2019s entire business across upstream, downstream, projects and construction.\u00a0 She is a leading spokesperson on safety and the environment, improving the efficiency of shipping and maritime operations, and driving technology and innovation, including digitalization and decarbonization.\u00a0 She is also a passionate advocate and champion of DEI and creating an integrated culture of inclusion in Shell, and beyond.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3734\" style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3734\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3734\" src=\"https:\/\/mainemaritime.edu\/giving\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/41\/2023\/08\/trauth-pic2.jpg\" alt=\"Karrie Trauth picture\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mainemaritime.edu\/giving\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/41\/2023\/08\/trauth-pic2.jpg 320w, https:\/\/mainemaritime.edu\/giving\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/41\/2023\/08\/trauth-pic2-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mainemaritime.edu\/giving\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/41\/2023\/08\/trauth-pic2-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-3734\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Karrie Trauth<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Karrie joined Shell in 2012, initially as a project manager in Houston, followed by roles in London as manager and General Manager of Shell\u2019s Shipping &amp; Maritime Technology and Innovation group globally before assuming her last position as GM Shipping &amp; Maritime Americas.<\/p>\n<p>Karrie began her career as a Surface Warfare Officer in the US Navy, serving as one of the first group of women assigned in combat ships.\u00a0 After completing her naval service, she joined Avondale Shipyard in New Orleans as the Engineering Manager for R&amp;D, beginning a career in ship design and construction and ultimately had responsibility for running a shipyard, delivering for the US Navy Zumwalt class destroyers.<\/p>\n<p>Karrie has been honored by both the UK Everywoman program and the Society of Women Engineers for her efforts to increase gender balance in STEM fields and her contributions to technology, innovation, and design.<\/p>\n<p>Karrie is an Advisory Council Member of American Bureau of Shipping, Chair of the Blue Sky Maritime Coalition and an Advisory Board Member of Lloyds Register of Shipping. She is also a Supervisory Board member at the UK Chamber of Shipping and Co-Chair of their Shipping Defense Advisory Committee.\u00a0 She is a former Director of the Greater Houston Port Bureau, SIGTTO, and the UKP&amp;I Club.<\/p>\n<p>Born in the US, Karrie holds Bachelors and Masters engineering degrees from MIT, and an MBA from Georgetown University.\u00a0 She is living in London with her wife Angela and can often be found hiking, exploring, or on her road bike.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Karrie Trauth is the Senior Vice President and Global Head of Shipping &amp;
