Course Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prerequisites: <\/strong>None<\/p>\n

Materials Allowed: <\/strong>A calculator (four\u2010function preferred,) a pressure\/temperature chart, and scratch paper.<\/p>\n

Time to Complete Exam: <\/strong>2 hours<\/p>\n

Passing Score for Each Sectio<\/strong>n: <\/strong>70% or better.<\/p>\n

Course<\/strong><\/p>\n

Section 608 of the Federal Clean Air Act requires persons who work with or purchase regulated refrigerants for stationary equipment to become certified through a closed book exam. This examination is a total of 100 questions, broken down into four sections: Core, Type\u2010I, Type\u2010II and Type\u2010III. The certification types are defined as follows:<\/p>\n

Type<\/strong>\u2010<\/strong>I: <\/strong>Required for servicing small appliances
\nType<\/strong>\u2010<\/strong>II: <\/strong>Required for servicing or disposing of high\u2010pressure appliances, except small appliances and MVACs
\nType<\/strong>\u2010<\/strong>III: <\/strong>Required for servicing or disposing of low\u2010pressure appliances
\nUniversal: <\/strong>Earned when a candidate successfully passes all four sections of the exam.<\/p>\n

Candidates must pass the Core section along with one or more of the Types to earn a certification.<\/p>\n
