This year\u2019s virtual commencement ceremony offers unique opportunities for you&#8211;family and friends&#8211;to become integral parts of the celebration on June 6<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>We have prepared the following suggestions and resources to help you plan and kick off the festivities.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Host a watch party<\/strong>! Gather family to watch this year\u2019s one-of-a-kind event and watch as we honor your graduate by live-streaming the event into your living room from Facebook or YouTube.<\/li>\n<li>Request that everyone in attendance <strong>dress for the occasion<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prepare food<\/strong> to enjoy together as you celebrate.<\/li>\n<li>Have your graduate wear all their <strong>graduation attire<\/strong> &#8211; their cap and gown, honor cords, honor\u2019s medallion, athlete medallions, or uniform.<\/li>\n<li>When the dean announces your student&#8217;s name, have your graduate stand so you can give them a raucous round of <strong>applause<\/strong>!<\/li>\n<li>Take pictures \u2013 lots of pictures \u2013 and use the hashtag <strong>#MMAGrad<\/strong> when you share your commencement photos on social media.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Print posters and lawn signs<\/strong> (downloads below) to let your neighbors know what your graduate has accomplished!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Follow us on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Maine.Maritime.Academy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facebook<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Maine_Maritime\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter<\/a>! We will be sharing information leading up to the event and throughout the day on June 6.<\/p>\n<h2>Posters &amp; Lawn Signs<\/h2>\n<p>Let your neighbors know what your graduate has accomplished by displaying these posters and lawn signs leading up to the Virtual Commencement Ceremony on June 6.<\/p>\n<p>They can also be used to decorate for your virtual watch party during the event or as photo props. Use the hashtag <strong>#MMAGrad<\/strong> when you share photos on social media so we can celebrate with you!<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve prepared these art pieces for printing and display by family, friends, and members of the Maine Maritime Academy Class of 2020. The files are made available for general use, in celebration of MMA\u2019s graduates and in conjunction with the Class of 2020 Virtual Commencement Ceremony on June 6, 2020.
